Ohmigosh, this is an excellent short story, written so well, I went searching for more of the author's work.It is super difficult to review short stories without writing spoilers, so I'll just say get ready for a gripping tale that will have the hairs standing up on the back of your neck
Albeit P&C could have used a tad more backstory, it is an enjoyable, yet heart pounding read you'll gulp down in record time - even for a short. I won't tell you whether Will makes it off the train, but will say I've lined up the authors Outsider Chronicles to read this evening.

This story feels like it should be a chapter in a much longer book, and it is part of a series, sort of. It gave me a taste of a new world that I now want to devour. There were several spelling and grammar errors, but I don't think the average reader will notice them.

I am #TeamBen all the way, and this short story is exactly what I needed to get an extra fix of my favorite character from the series (Well my favorite after Niko, because Niko is Number One).
Anyways. It's also perfect and gory... because that's how the Niko series rolls!
I love Ben!!! So of course I loved this short story about the unfortunate incident that happened when he was 16. Loved knowing more about his brother and seeing how different they were.
If you have been reading this series I suggest you read this short story, you will love it!
I'm one of those readers who take an immediate dislike towards irritating/dumb characters who are just asking for it. (ie, the annoying teen, Ben).
Maybe it's the crotchety ol' woman in me, shouting "You young idiot! Be responsible for once in your life! You should know better...!"
Anyway...I'll just say that this short story is a nice opener to what may be a wild dystopian ride!
I kinda forgot I was reading g a horror short. But no matter, what an excellent read by an author from my home state. May be with considering the series for an upcoming purchase.
I never know what to expect from Dystopian or horror. I don't usually like horror but Im trying to be less of a scaredy cat. This story was entertaining. It reminded me of an updated Tremors. There is a "good" son, "disappointing" son trope that could be further explored, but I understand that this is a short story. Definitely wanted to smack Ben upside the head for being so careless and inconsiderate.
For a short novella this book packed a punch and has me wanting to read the next book.
So we are introduced to two brothers who want to eventually help kill these creatures called Slithers. Well when they learn that one of them is on the train they are traveling on that is when curiosity killed the cat and all those around them.
Just pick this up so you can read it yourself and see if reading about Slithers sound good to you!
